Bengal Property Index publishes West Bengal property numbers you can check: every figure has a source, a sample size where it applies, and the date we checked it. We are not a listing portal and we don’t sell property.
Why we exist
Buyers, sellers, NRIs and landowners in West Bengal often find property figures online that conflict with each other, carry no date, or use land units from another state. We set out to publish one place, district by district, where each number says where it came from and how old it is.
What we publish
- Place pages for every district, and town by town over time: the latest asking prices for flats, houses and land, how they moved since last quarter, and how the government value works there.
- Guides on government value, stamp duty and registration, land records and mutation, land units and rural land, and buying from abroad as an NRI.
- Free calculators for stamp duty, home loan EMI, property price and land measurement units.
Where the numbers come from
- Asking prices worked out from for-sale ads on major property portals: the median for each quarter, with the number of ads counted. We don’t show the ads. These are what sellers ask, not sale prices.
- Government market values from the WBRegistration (IGR) market-value lookup.
- Published indices such as NHB RESIDEX and the RBI House Price Index.
We do not have transaction data, and we never fill a gap with an estimate. Where we lack checked data, the page says so. Read the full methodology.
What we don’t do
We don’t list or advertise property for sale, and we don’t earn commission on sales. The site is funded by advertising, shown through Google AdSense and kept below the key numbers.
