Bengal Property Index publishes original real estate market intelligence for West Bengal. This Editorial Policy explains our standards for accuracy, independence, transparency, and content quality.
1. Our Mission
Bengal Property Index exists to provide accurate, data-driven, independent real estate market intelligence for West Bengal. Our goal is to be the most reliable source of property price data, market analysis, and buyer guidance for West Bengal — across every district from Kolkata metro to rural areas.
We are not a real estate agent. We do not list properties. We do not earn commissions from property sales. Our revenue comes from advertising and reader support — not from builders or agents.

- No builder, developer, or real estate agent can pay for a positive review or inflated price data

3. Data Standards
3.1 Sources We Accept
Our property price data is sourced from:
- Primary sources (highest priority): Official government circle rate notifications, WBRERA registered project data, Banglarbhumi portal records, Registration & Stamp Revenue Directorate data
- Secondary sources: Primary market surveys conducted by our team, direct communication with builders and developers, verified builder price lists
- Tertiary sources: Established real estate portals (99acres, MagicBricks) used only for cross-referencing, not as primary data
3.2 Data Verification
- Price data is verified from at least 2 independent sources before publication
- Government data (circle rates, RERA) is cross-checked against official portal PDFs
- Market survey data is collected from at least 3 locations per town
- All data carries a “Last Updated” date — data more than 6 months old is flagged for review
3.3 Data Corrections
If we publish incorrect data, we correct it promptly and clearly. Corrections are noted at the top or bottom of the relevant article with the correction date and nature of the change.
4. Author Standards
4.1 Who Writes for Bengal Property Index
Our content is written by:
- Our core editorial team with ground-level knowledge of West Bengal’s property market
- Expert contributors with verifiable experience in real estate, law, or finance
- Guest writers with disclosed credentials and relevant expertise
4.2 Author Attribution

- Misleading or exaggerated market claims
- Plagiarised or AI-generated content presented as original research
5.3 Balance and Fairness
When covering market trends or investment analysis, we present a balanced view including both opportunities and risks. We do not publish purely promotional content for specific localities or builders without factual basis.
6. Sponsored Content and Advertising
6.1 Clear Labelling
All sponsored content is clearly labelled with one of the following:

- “Paid Partnership”
- “Advertiser Content”

6.2 Advertiser Influence
Advertisers cannot:
- Request changes to editorial articles
- Request removal of factual data
- Influence our price data, market analysis, or recommendations
- Appear in editorial content without clear sponsorship disclosure

Some articles may contain affiliate links (for example, links to property portals or home loan providers). Affiliate links are disclosed in the article. Affiliate relationships do not affect our editorial assessment.
7. Conflicts of Interest
Bengal Property Index discloses any potential conflicts of interest relevant to our content. This includes:
